What do you look for in a client partner?

What do you look for in a client partner?

Producers tend to hear this question as being about talent, and answer accordingly. The people asking it are usually not asking about talent.

Skill gets you the first session. What gets you the second is a much shorter list, and it is mostly about whether working with you is predictable: whether files arrive when you said they would, whether they are labeled, whether you are reachable during the week the record is being finished, whether a disagreement about money turns into a conversation or a silence.

That sounds like a low bar. It is a low bar, and it is cleared less often than you would expect, which is exactly why clearing it reliably is worth more than most producers think.

The answer in the video is from the app side, where the same question comes up about which producers to keep working with.
