How many beats did you send Lil Baby? ft/ Harto

Producers ask this hoping for a number they can aim at. There is one, it is bigger than most people want, and on its own it is misleading.

Volume is real

Volume is real. Placements are a filtering process, and you do not control the filter, so the only lever you actually hold is how many chances you put into it. Nobody with a long credit list got there on a handful of beats sent to the right person at the right moment. That story exists, and it is survivorship, not method.

Why the number alone misleads

But the number is only half of it, because a hundred beats sent to nobody in particular is not a hundred chances. It is one chance, taken a hundred times, at a door that was never open. The producers who convert are usually sending fewer beats to more specific people, with some idea of what that artist is working on.

Harto has credits with Lil Baby, Rod Wave, Lil Durk, NBA YoungBoy, Kodak Black, Young Thug and YTB Trench, so his figure is worth having. He gives it to Chris Legrett on The Producer Room, in the video above.

If the bottleneck on your end is having enough to send, that is a different problem with a different fix.
